Canada Sets 2026 Newfoundland Snow Crab Quota at 61,004 Tonnes, Down 3%

Canadian Fisheries Minister Joanne Thompson announced today that the 2026 Total Allowable Catch (TAC) for Newfoundland and Labrador's snow crab fishery will be 61,004 tonnes, representing a 3% decrease from 2025 levels.
Despite the overall reduction, the 2026 TAC marks the third-highest quota on record, following 2025's second-highest allocation. The fishery generated over $700 million for the Newfoundland and Labrador economy in 2025, cementing its status as one of Canada's most lucrative fisheries.
