Lobster season extended in Northeast New Brunswick

CARAQUET - Lobster fishing is extended for five days in the north-eastern New Brunswick in a exception to the planned closure at the end of June. The season will therefore end on July 5 for fishermen in the area 23.
This decision of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) was provided last week to fishermen who had been calling for several weeks to make up the shortfall they had at the beginning of the season.
Fishing had started this year with a week late this spring due to the still significant presence of ice on the coast of northeastern New Brunswick.
