Unalaska police have found the body believed to be a missing fisheries observer, but still had not confirmed her identity Tuesday afternoon.
Unalaska Department of Public Safety Directory Jamie Sunderland said the search for Jessica Acker started after she did not return to Westward Seafoods, where she was a plant observer. About 12 people searched the area around Pyramid Peak including public safety paid staff and volunteers, and Coast Guard personnel from the local office.
Additionally, a Dolphin helicopter from the Coast Guard cutter Munro helped with the search for Acker, age 33, until it had to stop because of deteriorating weather conditions Monday.
She was last seen on Sunday, when she started her hike.
The woman appeared to have fallen down a steep slope, where her body was located by two public safety searchers, according to Sunderland.
Positive identification was expected once searchers completed carrying her body off the mountain behind the seafood plant on Captains Bay Road.
