Pangasius Outlook in China is for More Standardization on Quality Product as Smuggling is Curtailed

Though facing various hindrances, the basa industry in China is fighting for a brighter future.
In the end of last year, China’s Fuzhou customs cracked down on a large-scale smuggling case involved five gangs and 41-thousand-ton frozen seafood worth about 0.64 billion yuan. The smugglers are said to have supplied over 70% basa commodities in the country’s main markets, while market shares of their basa products have exceeded 40% in other markets. And one gang is found to be the largest basa distributor in China. This breaking news has not only attracted great attention to smuggling from Vietnam to Guangxi but also to the development of basa fish industry.
