Cooke Aquculture expressed strong disappointment in the Washington House and Senate legislative votes to phase out net pen salmon farming in Puget Sound. The company says first, there is no scientific basis to claim farmed Atlantics are a threat to Pacific salmon, and secondly, the company feels the measure is needlessly sacrificing many sea-farming jobs in Puget Sound.
