An all-too familiar scene is playing out on the beaches of Northwest Alaska again this summer. Dead seabirds are being found on beaches throughout the Bering Straight region.
Reports range from a handful of dead birds in one region to hundreds in other areas, mostly murres with a few gulls and kittiwakes thrown in, too. Reports started coming in in May from observers in Shishmaref, Unalakleet and on St. Lawrence Island ...
