ANALYSIS: Orange Roughy Demands Premium

The latest season for orange roughy from New Zealand began back in June. Since then, quotations collected on new product have been demanding a premium compared to previous seasons. Currently, 6-8 ounce-sized fillets are averaging $7.75/pound when a year ago prices were $0.55 lower.
Import volume for the first half of the year remains in good shape with the 2020 January through June year-to-date figure of 1.8 million pounds registering 21 percent above the previous 5-year average...
