California Coast Crab Association Raises Red Flags Over Latest 'Pop-up' Crab Gear Bill

The California Coast Crab Association (CCCA) and a number of fishery groups have worked to oppose a new bill, AB 534, proposed by Assembly Member Rob Bonta of the California Legislature which will move all fishing fleets to utilize ropeless fishing gear by 2025.
The coalition of associations from the local fishing and processing sectors signed a letter sent to Assembly Member Bonta and the Water and Parks Committee members who will vote on the legislation.
