Minnesota DNR Issues Reminder: It’s Illegal To Import Live Crayfish
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is issuing an important reminder as resorts, restaurants and community groups begin planning their annual crayfish boils: It’s illegal to import live crayfish.
Crayfish imports are regulated in Minnesota as the release of nonnative crayfish into the wild can pose “serious risks to Minnesota fish, wildlife and infrastructure.” As the DNR notes on their website, the transportation of live native or invasive crayfish from one waterbody to another within the state is prohibited unless a permit has been issued.
