Alaska Pink Salmon Landings Show Unusual Pattern Across State as Season Nears its Peak
With the recent news that Russia has increased its forecast of wild pink salmon landings from 375,000 mt to as high as 400,000 mt, Alaska’s current harvest of 63.3 million fish or 100,521 mt (using an average weight of 3.5 pounds) one or two weeks before what should be the peak of pink season, is troubling for both the market and for fisheries managers.
