18 Pacific Rockfish Species Could Get 'Snapper' Market Name Under FDA Proposal

The FDA announced Tuesday that it is requesting information on a potential update to the acceptable market name for 18 species of Sebastes, commonly known as rockfish. The request follows legislation enacted in November 2025 that directed the agency to engage with stakeholders on an acceptable market name change for certain Sebastes species.
