Coalition Celebrates First Chinook Salmon to Mount St. Helens Watershed Since 1980 Eruption
The plan began shortly after the cataclysmic eruption of Mount St. Helens in 1980. The upper Toutle River watershed, source of abundant populations of spring and fall Chinook, coho salmon, and winter steelhead, took the hardest hit, buried under hundreds of feet of ash, volcanic debris, and sediment.
