Fishery Management Council Appointments Announced, with Continuity in Most Regions

The U.S. Commerce Department announced Wednesday the appointment of 22 new and returning members to the eight regional fishery management councils that partner with NOAA Fisheries to manage ocean fish stocks. The new and reappointed council members begin their three-year terms on August 12.
The appointments held no real surprises to the seafood industry. However, one appointee to the Pacific Fishery Management Council brings a different background to the Council. And the potential for a very disruptive change on the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council was, for the most part, avoided. ...
