Mexico to Release 483 Tons of Live Tuna Taken Over IAATC Quota

Mexico's Conapesca has announced the closure of the bluefin tuna season, and that on the last day fleets overharvested the resource by 483 tons.
Mexican bluefin tuna is harvested live for growout in a netpen farming system.
The authorized quota allowed by IATTC (Inter American Tropical Tuna Commission) is 2357 tons. However the total harvest in the last few days of fishing was 595 tons.
This led to an overage of 483 tons.
