NZ Green Shell Mussel Harvest May Be Postponed; Algal Blooms an Issue

New Zealand is experiencing their largest closure of mussel farms since 1993 – and it’s all due to toxic algae.
Stuff New Zealand reports that 122 farms are closed, and an additional 128 voluntarily ceased harvesting while toxins clear up. Due to the short supply, Urner Barry market report Jim Kenny says that market values for New Zealand green shell mussels are “moving sharply higher.”
