CBP Seizes Invasive Mitten Crabs in New York State

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers have seized another shipment of invasive mitten crabs – this time in New York State.
According to a press release, on October 31 CBP officers noticed inconsistencies on a package labeled as a dress. Further examination of the package revealed a total of 108 Chinese mitten crabs, which are considered a seasonal delicacy in Asia. The crabs are an invasive species and prohibited from being imported into the U.S.
