Longer Blue Crab Season Expected in Chesapeake Bay Thanks to Warmer Winters
The blue crab season in the Chesapeake Bay will be longer and more productive according to scientists from the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science.
After researchers studied data on increasing temperatures in the Chesapeake Bay, winters will be cut in half by 2100. With shorter winters, blue crab survival will improve by 20% or more compared to the current landscape.
