ANALYSIS: Robust Scallop Harvest Leads to Lower Prices
Conservation efforts to protect U.S. scallops as a resource and improved management of the fisheries has resulted in increased landings since 2014. Framework Adjustment 30 to the Atlantic Sea scallop Fisheries Management Plan, have projected landings of about 62.5 million pounds of scallops for the FY 2019. According to market participants, FY 2019 will likely register in the range of 55-56 million pounds; 3% lower than 2018.
