Massachusetts to Kick off Year-long 'Ropeless' Gear Feasibility Study
The state of Massachusetts is looking to see if the implementation of 'ropeless' fishing gear is a potential option for its lobster fishery.
The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) has launched a year-long scoping project to determine if ‘ropeless’ fishing gear in the New England lobster fishery.
According to the DMF, the project will be on an accelerated timeline and feature interviews from dozens of fishermen, technologists, policy experts, and scientists to evaluate the potential fishing method.
