Groundwork Begins on SalMar’s New Smolt Plant in Norway
Construction is officially underway on SalMar’s new smolt plant four months after the Norwegian salmon farmer signed a contract with recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) specialist Krüger Kaldness AS. Fish Farmer Magazine confirmed late last week that SalMar’s Board gave the green light for groundwork to begin.
The project, which will ultimately be the world’s largest smolt plant, was initially announced in February. Construction on the Tjuin, Norway-based facility was scheduled to begin this past May.
