Domoic Acid in Razor Clams Prompts Concerns, Testing in Dungeness Crab; USCG Urges Safety
It wouldn't be a Dungeness crab season without a hiccup.
The Oregon Department of Agriculture, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, discovered elevated levels of domoic acid in razor clams in Southern Oregon. That meant the agency then also had to test Dungeness crab for domoic acid -- even though the 2021-2022 crab season was cleared to open on Wednesday, Dec. 1 with a pre-soak period that started Sunday.
