Fifax Culls Rainbow Trout at Eckerö Facility Due to IHN Outbreak
Finland-based aquaculture firm Fifax announced that following the discovery of IHN-disease in rainbow trout at its facility in Eckerö, the Finnish Food Authority called for all of the fish at the facility to be harvested and culled.
Fifax was handed an August 15 deadline for the culling and according to the company, it was concluded as planned and the facility was empty of fish. The procedures were supervised by the animal welfare protection authorities of Åland.
