Proximar Seafood Begins Salmon Production in Japan
Proximar Seafood, a land-based salmon farmer with operations in Japan, has begun production with its first eggs successfully inserted into its hatchery in Oyama, the company announced on October 28.
In total, about 125,000 eggs were inserted in the first batch and the ova arrived at the hatchery in excellent condition, the company shared. The eggs were supplied by Benchmark Genetics and their Icelandic StofnFiskur breeding program. These have shown great performance in land-based facilities, including AquaMaof’s R&D facility in Poland.
