Canada, First Nations Sign MoU to Assess Possibility of South Coast Fjords Conservation Area
Parks Canada announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to launch a “feasibility assessment” to establish the South Coast Fjords as a new national marine conservation area (NMCA).
The move to designate the South Coast Fjords as a protected area would bring the country closer to its commitment to protect biodiversity and conserve 25 percent of marine and coastal areas by 2025, and 30 percent by 2030.
