Oregon Lawmakers Urge NOAA to Protect Port Orford Weather Buoy
The Port Orford weather buoy, affectionately known as "Buoy 15," is too important for decommissioning, according to federal lawmakers.
Rep. Val Hoyle and Sens. Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, all Democrats, sent a bicameral letter to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration opposing the agency’s plan to potentially decommission weather buoy 46015 off the coast of Port Orford, Oregon.
