Nichimo Group Developed Biodegradable Gillnet
Nichimo, a significant seafood trading company, announced on October 13 that it had developed the world's first biodegradable gillnet made from the biodegradable resin polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), reported Minato Shimbun. The net is expected to suppress ghost fishing by reducing its physical properties due to hydrolysis after it hits the bottom of the ocean during operations and when it is washed away due to rough weather.
