U.S. Coast Guard: Enhanced Safety Oversight Needed for Fish Tender Vessels
The U.S. General Accounting Office published a report yesterday that recommends the U.S. Coast Guard assess the use and benefits of including fish tender vessels (those that accept deliveries of fish and provide supplies to fishermen on the grounds) to use ‘load line’ requirements. Under U.S. law, certain fish tender vessels are subject to load line and stability requirements.
