Irvington Seafood Issues Recall For Crabmeat Potentially Contaminated With Listeria Monocytogenes
Irvington Seafood of Irvington, Alabama, issued a recall on Monday for 1 lb. packages of “Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger and Claw Meat.” The crabmeat could potentially be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that when consumed can cause fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. While most people are generally able to get over the illness in a few days, it could be deadly for the very young, elderly, and immune-compromised.
