UK Retailer Sainsbury’s Closes Fish Counters, Announce 3,500 Jobs Cut

Major UK retailer Sainsbury’s announced that 3,500 employees will lose their jobs as the company undergoes a significant strategy update.
In an interim report for the 28 weeks ending September 19, 2020, the company said it will also permanently close its fish, meat and deli counters. Sainsbury’s said the decision was based on reduced customer demand, and will save the company £60 million in operating costs and will reduce food waste and energy consumption in our stores.
