High Density of Endangered Right Whales Spotted in Massachusetts Waters
The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF) said it will monitor the “moderate to high” presence of endangered North Atlantic right whales in state waters.
The DMF said that aerial and acoustic surveillance conducted by NOAA Fisheries and the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies (PCCS) found the presence of right whales in Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts Bay, Stellwagen Bank, state waters on the backside of Cape Cod, and the nearshore federal waters south of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
