Production Trends and Market Dynamics of Scottish Atlantic Salmon
Scotland is one of the world's three largest Atlantic salmon producers, after Norway and Chile. The historical biomass harvest reported by the Scottish Fish Farm Production Survey in October 2024 reveals that production levels have been unstable over the last ten years (Table 1). While production declined significantly in 2023 by 11% year over year (y-o-y), the Scottish government forecasts a rebound in 2024, with a 23% increase based on current stock levels.
