Bob Thorstenson Cited For Seining Too Close to A Stream in Crawfish Inlet near Sitka
Last Sunday Alaska Wldlife Troopers cited commercial fisherman and long-time advocate for Southeast Alaska fisheries Robert Thorstenson for fishing within 200 yards of a salmon stream.
Thorstenson’s 38-ton chum salmon catch was confiscated in Crawfish Inlet about 40 miles southeast of Sitka. If convicted of the misdemeanor, Thorstenson could face up to a year of prison, a $15,000 fine and the value of the catch, estimated to be about $50,000.
