Setnet Vote to Join Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association Narrowly Fails

The setnet fleet in Bristol Bay voted against joining the regional marketing association there, by a narrow margin. By law, 30% of the setnet fleet had to vote and a majority must support the move for it to happen. According to Commissioner Julie Sand of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, the voting threshold was met, but the final outcome was 19 votes short of a majority.
