Federal Investment Strengthens Small Craft Harbor Infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador
Small craft harbors play a vital role in keeping Canada’s seafood sector moving, providing the infrastructure needed for fishing activity, product shipment and business in coastal regions. Together, the country’s commercial fisheries, aquaculture and seafood processing industries employ close to 65,000 people, including more than 42,900 commercial harvesters. In 2025, fish and seafood exports reached $8.47 billion nationwide, with Newfoundland and Labrador accounting for about $1.75 billion of that total.
