Alaska Marine Scientist Michelle Ridgway Remembered for Being Outspoken Conservationist

Michelle Ridgway, a well known Alaskan Marine Scientist who served for years on North Pacific Fisheries Council Advisory Panels, has died after sustaining injuries in a car crash.
AP reports that Michelle Ridgway died on Tuesday from injuries in a crash Friday Afternoon at Mile 22 on the Glacier Highway.
Ridgway was an avid diver who helped explore the Bering Sea's Zhemchug (ZEM-chug) Canyon and took part in research in other Alaska locations. She also directed science camps for children.
The deputy director of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center's Auke Bay Laboratories, Pete Hagen, says Ridgeway was impassioned about what she did and she was an excellent communicator.
Ridgway also served on the Advisory Panel of the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council for more than a decade...
