Glooscap First Nation Acquires SeaKist Lobster Holding Facility
The Glooscap First Nation, located approximately 70 kilometers northwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia, has acquired SeaKist Lobster Holding Facility, as well as 52% ownership of seafood distribution company Yarmouth Bar Fisheries Limited.
The acquisition comes as part of the Government of Canada’s partnership with First Nations to “support community-driven economic development projects that will help build healthier, most sustainable communities.” Indigenous Services Canada contributed $779,922 under the Community Opportunity Readiness Program to aid the Glooscap First Nation with the business development project...
