Marine Eco-Label Japan Bans Moist Pellet in Compliance with the New Aquaculture Certification
Marine Eco-Label Japan (MEL) Council (President Naoya Kakizoe) announced on August 1 that the MEL Aquaculture Certification Standard Ver. 2.0 is in effect on the same date, reported Minato Shimbun. In principle, the continuous use of moist pellets during the breeding period should be prohibited, and solid compound feed, which has a less environmental impact, should be requested. Conventional standard Ver. 1.0 certificate holders must undergo a transition audit by July 31, 2025.
