How the Industry is Responding To The End of The Northern Cod Moratorium
The Northern cod moratorium off the north and east coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador came to an end this week after first being imposed in 1992. Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, announced that the iconic 2J3KL Northern cod commercial fishery would be reopening, with the total allowable catch (TAC) set at 18,000 tonnes.
