New England Aquarium Wants NOAA To Reduce Risk of Whale Entanglements By At Least 80%, Not 60%
The New England Aquarium is not pleased with NOAA’s proposed rule to amend the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan.
The proposed rule changes are aimed at limiting right whale entanglements in fishing gear, largely focused on changes that will impact the lobster industry.
The group described the potential rule change as a “start to implementing critically needed measures to save right whales,” but argued that more is needed to protect the species.
