National Fisheries Institute Statement on the Passing of Lee Weddig

Reston, VA – August 10, 2026– The seafood community has lost a giant. Lee Weddig ran the National Fisheries Institute for three decades, retiring in 1997. Trade press referred to him as the “Godfather of NFI” and his tenure was marked by a steadfast focus on the future.
